Die Solidariteit Navorsingsinstituut (SNI) het in ʼn verslag oor werksvooruitsigte vir matrieks bekend gemaak dat matrieks wat nie die moeite doen om verder te studeer nie, gaan sukkel om werk te kry.
Mense met slegs graad 10 se arbeidsopnamekoers is ongeveer 30%.
Daarteenoor is die arbeidsopnamekoers van mense met matriek 50%, terwyl mense met ʼn tersiêre kwalifikasie se arbeidsopnamekoers tot 80% is.

Here we are again at the start of a brand new year!

Priscilla and Berrie/Lucinda, two female tan and white Jack Russells went missing on the evening of 4 January 2012 from their home in Koos Smal Street, Eldoraigne Centurion.
An armed response company responded to a triggered alarm while the owners weren’t there and left the gate open during the storm.
Both dogs are missing since then and they both are wearing name tags with a contact telephone number on.

N Niklaus supplied these tips for using your old newspapers:  
* Clean and polish your windows. 
Crumpled newspaper dries and polishes windows better than paper towels and it’s a lot cheaper.
* Deodorise luggage and containers. 
Stuff in a few sheets of crumpled newspaper and seal for a few days. The paper will absorb any odours    for a fresh start.

The African Union recently named Professor Etheresia (Resia) Pretorius from the Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Health Sciences as the Southern Region winner in the category of Basic Science, Technology and Innovation.
The award is part of the African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards Programme and was presented to her at the African Union Head Quarters, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The target was outstanding Women researchers at Regional Level for their great scientific achievement and contribution through science for the socio-economic development of Africa.
