With advances in medical technology, patients with diseases of major organs such as the heart, liver, kidney and pancreas are not facing death. Modern technology has advanced to such an extent that it is not just organs that can be transplanted, but tissue as well.

After the long and very cold winter months, SPRING has arrived! All over there are signs of nature waking up. One sees blossoms on the trees, flowers in the garden, new shoots on shrubs and trees. Even the birds are chirping more happily as they are building nests for their new families.
We should also be waking up. It is time we all either join a gym or simply do some walking to get exercise and get rid of the winter flab.

Die burgerregte-organisasie, AfriForum, doen ‘n beroep op alle Afrikaanssprekendes om hulle taal te handhaaf en uit te bou.
Hierdie beroep het saamgeval met die herdenking van die stigting van die GRA op 14 Augustus 1875, wat die begin daarvan was om Afrikaans as skryftaal te vestig.
Afrikaans is ‘n volwaardige hoëfunksietaal wat ten volle aan wetenskaplike, opvoed-kundige, juridiese en ekonmiese behoeftes beantwoord en internasionaal geag en onderrig word. Sakkie Kotze op ATKV Direksie

Sakkie Kotze voorsitter van ATKV Centurion is op die Algemene Jaarvergadering van die ATKV, wat die afgelope naweek by Buffelspoort gehou is, tot die Direksie van die ATKV herkies. Prof. Marlene Verhoef is tot Onder-voorsitter herkies en Adv. Johan Kruger, ook van Pretoria, is vir die eerste keer tot die ATKV-Direksie verkies.

Knuppeldik aan Koningskos Lewer Bydrae

Die bestuur van die bekende resepteboek, Knuppeldik aan Koningskos het onlangs aan die SAPD se Bejaardesorgfonds en die Gestremdefonds ruim finansiële bydraes gelewer.
Die verkope van die resepteboek, wat nou in sy 19de druk is, bly ten spyte van die huidige moeilike ekonomiese klimaat, goed. Resepte in die gewilde boek is maklik om te maak en word bestanddele wat meestal in die kombuis is, gebruik.

Nashua Gholfdag ‘n groot sukses

Ten spyte van koue weer was die Nashua Gholfdag op 20 Augustus 2009 by Irene Gholfbaan ‘n heerlike dag. Vir die agtste agtereenvolgende jaar was Nashua as hoofborg betrokke en danksy die deelname van ook verskillende ander borge was die gholfdag ‘n reuse sukses.
Ten einde gemeenskapsdienste bekostigbaar aan bejaardes te lewer, is projekte soos die gholfdag van uiterste belang.

GEM Village in Good Hands

The Gunners’ and Engineers’ Memorial Village (GEM Village) in Irene, recently held their annual feedback meeting informing members that despite the current economical turndown, they are still in good hands.
The security at the village has also been improved with gate controlled and engaging a security company.
The residents were however cautioned not to leave the premises to go for walks or cycling on their own but rather in groups for their own safety.

Die lente is op hande. Wat ‘n wonderlike vooruitsig na so ‘n lang koue winter. Al probleem nou is om so vinnig moontlik in vorm te kom en iets aan die bleek lyfies te doen.
