DRIVING DOWN MEMORY LANE

Well, with the first month over, I was looking forward to the start of a new one.
This was the never ending story which eventually became part of my life, with budgets and goals being set monthly.
My first ‘new car’ clients were a Dutch family and they had the choice of three new Volkswagen products.
The Variant (Station Wagon), the four (4) door sedan and the Fast-back.

Celebrities washed cars for charity

Irene Village Mall hosted a Mother’s Day Celebrity Carwash on 8 May 2010 in their covered parking area to benefit Reach for a Dream Foundation.
Customers had their cars washed and then had their photographs taken with the celebrities.
The celebrities were in high spirits as they donned their red overalls and gumboots to entertain the customers who went downstairs to the Village Car Salon.

Brons medalje vir Laerskool Wierdapark

Gedurende Maart 2010 het 23 Laerskole aan die Super 12 Redenaarskompetisie by die Laerskool Orion in Alberton deelgeneem.
Die Graad 7 span redenaars van Laerskool Wierdapark het die derde plek behaal en het ‘n brons medalje ontvang.
Die onderwerp wat hulle beredeneer het was “Die lewe is ‘n kaleidoskoop”.

Riana wins Loskop Marathon

Riana van Niekerk won the Forever Resorts Loskop Marathon on Saturday 17 April 2010.
This is the 3rd time that she has won this race. This is just two weeks after
winning a gold medal in the Two Oceans Marathon with a 6th place.
Riana’s time was 3:19:06. This is one of the fastest times ever run by a South African woman over 50km.
Second in the ladies race was Muchaneta Gwata from Zimbabwe. She was more
than 10min behind Riana.

After completion of the official measurement of the Comrades Marathon race route by an International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) and Association of International Marathons (AIMS) accredited Course Measurer, the official distance of the 2010 Comrades Marathon was confirmed as 89.28km.
This is 110m longer than the 2009 distance of 89.17km.  The change in distance is as a result of a decision by the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) to change the exit route from Pietermaritzburg.

Standard Bank Schools Pro20 Challenge winners praised

Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Standard Bank honoured the Standard Bank Schools Pro20 Challenge winners, Hoërskool Menlo Park at a celebratory dinner held in Pretoria on Wednesday, 5 May 2010.
Menlo Park walked away with the inaugural title in March as well as R100 000 to use towards development at the school.

Bafana Bafana support campaign aims for world record

South Africans are being urged to unite and make their voices heard in support of Bafana Bafana in a world record attempt.
The Vodacom campaign is supported by Bafana Bafana legends like Phil Masinga,    Mark Williams and Doctor Khumalo from the class of ’96, and aims to receive 10 million SMS messages in support of the national team.
