Emlanjeni is an organization that seeks to address some of the challenges encountered by women through the Lifestyle Project that aims to promote the value of life and restore the dignity of participants who have been traumatized.
Through a needs assessment of the relevant communities, they are able to formulate development programmes that address key challenges in these communities and promote the well-being and self-sufficiency of the vulnerable members.

Cleaning the Spruit

On Saturday, 6 November 2010, the Friends of Doringkloof Spruit under the chairperson, Marie de la Rey, organised another successful cleanup session of the Spruit.
They were joined by the DA members of Ward 57 as well as the 37th Springvale Scout’s pack.
It was heartwarming to see the youngsters caring for the environment also joined in with the cleanup.
Normally a total of 17 refuse bags are collect by 6 residents and one dog.

SACBW National President 2010 elected

The SA Council for Businesswomen (SACBW) was established in 1985 and during the annual general meeting of the SACBW that was held in Vanderbijlpark during October 2010, Melinda Stark, a business woman from Ermelo, was elected as the new National President for 2010.

Lyttelton Dienssentrum sê dankie aan vrywilligers

Op 16 November 2010, het Lyttelton Dienssentrum sy vrywilligers op ‘n besondere wyse met ‘n dankie-sê ete getrakteer vir hul groot bydrae die afgelope jaar.
Bets Haasbroek, voorsitter van die Dienssentrum het die rol van die vrywilligers beklemtoon en gesê dat die sentrum bevoorreg is om ‘n span te hê wat op verskillende vlakke vrywillig dien en help om die sentrum doeltreffend en koste effektief te bestuur.

Trees to bring shade to learners

Wierdapark Primary School adopted the Philena Primary School in Olievenhoutbosch two years ago and during 2009, they opened a library for the children.
Earlier this year a Wierie Road Race in conjunction with the Centurion Mall were held to raise funds.
It was decided to utilize some of the funds raised to buy 18 trees for the school as the terrain has no shade for the learners.
About 680 learners will now, once the trees have grown, have the opportunity to sit under trees for shade during break

Pretoria Girl wins award

Pick n Pay School Club, currently in its seventh year, is responsible for providing free educational material to over 2,000 schools, 1.5 million learners and 70,000 educators around South Africa.
In recognition of the outstanding work in the various competitions that were part of Pick n Pay School Club 2010 both learners and schools were rewarded with certificates as well as amazing cash prizes.
Mikal Botha of Laerskool Menlopark won the third prize in the Healthy World Award category.

National Renal Care takes a culinary approach to fighting kidney disease

National Renal Care recently launched South Africa’s first ever Healthy Kidney Recipe Competition and the winners were announced at a function held at Ritrovo Ristorante, Waterkloof Heights, Pretoria.
According to Leonie Ackerman the competition was open to all South Africans suffering from kidney disease and it was a platform for the recipes that kidney patients have created in order to cope with their conditions by leading healthy lifestyles while still enjoying flavoursome food.

Is Microsoft calling you?

If you answer your phone and it is Microsoft, telling you that your computer had a problem and they could fix it, should you believe them?
What if they said they were your internet provider?
The caller pretends to be from some reputable internet provider or Microsoft itself, telling the victim they are following up on a report of a computer problem or virus infection that has been detected on their computer.
