Helpende Hand vier Moedertaaldag met verhale van Afrikaanse helde

Solidariteit Helpende Hand glo in the voortbestaan en beskerming van moedertale.
Ter viering van Internationale Moedertaaldag op 21 Februarie 2012, het dié organisasie die leerlinge van Laerskool Louis Leipoldt in Lyttelton, Centurion, met verhale oor Afrikaanse helde trakteer.
Tydens die geleentheid het dr Dirk Hermann, voorsitter van Helpende Hand se direksie, die verhaal van die dapper Afrikaanse seun Japie Greyling, voorgelees.
Die verhaal is terselfdertyd treffend deur ses leerlinge van die skool, Karen Venter (Helpende Hand) en Johan Smith (Akademia) opgevoer.

Support CANSA with Shavathon 2012

CANSA was born 80 years ago out of compassion for people whose lives had been touched by cancer. This is a significant milestone for any company and even more so for a non-profit organization (NPO). In 2011, CANSA invested R6m in cancer research and supported 13,300 individual cancer patients through their 261 support groups and 2,300 trained caregivers. They also visited and supported an average of 48,500 patients, undergoing cancer treatment in oncology clinics. Employee Volunteer Week – Building the Bridge

Employee Volunteer Week is a campaign that was initiated by CAF Southern Africa in 2005 to encourage employee volunteering in communities.
Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) Southern Africa will be working to ‘build bridges’ between the volunteering aspirations of companies and their employees and the real needs of community organisations.
Employee Volunteer Week which takes place from 5 – 11 March this is year is an important part of CFA Southern Africa’s campaign to popularise volunteering and increase resources for the non-profit sector.

Old friends meet again
The Centurion receives an average of 33 comments per day on the articles appearing on our website.
The comments are from people as far as Russia, China, United Kingdom and Canada which indicates that the articles are read worldwide.
Most of the comments are complimentary and apart from comments, it even manages to bring old friends together again.

Charities supporting women and children received donations

The Business for Empowerment Trust or (BET) together with the current Miss South Africa, Melinda Bam, recently handed over R1 million to a number of charities focussing on supporting women and children.
 The vision of the BET is to empower disadvantaged South African citizens with the skills and support to enable them to access and seize opportunities to flourish in education, health and the economy.

SAP Wierdabrug members treated on National Police Day

On Friday 27 January, Hirsch’s Centurion and Food Lovers Market, Gateway Shopping Centre invited members of the Wierdabrug Police Station for cappuccino’s and freshly baked doughnuts and muffins to celebrate of National Police Day.
It was a great surprise for them and a nice treat for the busy Friday morning.

Teddies for Christmas

The knitting group, the Golden Girls meet every month to knit some articles that could be donated to charities.
For Christmas they knitted 78 Teddy Bears which were then handed over to the Lions South Club for distribution to charities.

Die Vroue Landbou Unie (VLU) is ‘n organisasie wat grotendeels afhanklik is van fondsinsamelingsprojekte om sy aktiwiteite te finansier en ook om ‘n bydrae aan ander te lewer.
Die VLU Overvaal – Jakaranda Streek bied jaarliks ‘n gholfdag ter fondsinsameling en hierdie jaar word daar op 11 Mei 2012 ‘n gholfdag by die Dienste Gholf Klub, Thaba Tshwane aangebied.
Die doel hierdie jaar is om fondse in te samel vir die Meerhofskool by Hartebeespoortdam.
Die skool verskaf gespesialiseerde onderwys en opleiding aan leerders met gestremdes en is die skool hoofsaaklik afhanklik van donasies.

Irene Homes offers full-time residential care to 88 mentally disabled ladies. 
The Homes cares for these ladies in eight houses which are located in tranquil surroundings.  Each house has a live-in Housemother as well as a Domestic Assistant. 
The Homes provides Holistic care by catering for the physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cultural needs of those residing here. 
Residents participate in household chores as well as social activities and hobbies including cooking, socializing, shopping, sports, drama groups and a choir.  The community often treats them to outings
