The City of Tshwane had for the last eight months been very busy working to rehabilitate the sinkhole on Jean Avenue.
The final asphalt road surface layer was laid and the road markings re-instated to the opening of the road to traffic on 1 June 2012.
The rehabilitation work involved re-instatement of all services and infrastructure that were moved or damaged in the sinkhole, such as water and storm-water pipes, electricity cables, as well as sidewalks, the median island and permanent road signage.

DA Congratulates Tshwane for Blue Drop achievement

The DA has congratulated the MMC Services Infrastructure, Councillor Percy Zitha and the Directors and staff of the Water and Sanitation Department, for its recent achievement in the annual Blue Drop drinking water program.
The Blue Drop scores are based on evaluations of municipal drinking water systems carried out by drinking water professionals.
They not only evaluate the water quality but also the management and planning of the system.
To receive a Blue Drop award, a water system must score 95 percent or more.

Centurion Akademie Studente maak hul harte en beursies oop

Die Studenteraad van Centurion Akademie het weer eens hulle kant gebring om geld in te samel en het op Vrydag 18 Mei 2012 ‘n tjek van bykans R9000 aan die media en skakelbeampte van die Jakaranda Kinderhuis oorhandig.
Die geleentheid het by die Highveldkampus plaasgevind en “Dr Tertius” van Binneland was by om seker te maak die studene se insameling word vir die doel aangewend om ‘n verskil aan kinders wat dit so nodig het, te maak.
Dis goed om te weet dat vandag se jeug met soveel passie nog vir minderbevoorregtes …

ATKV onthaal inwoners van Louis Trichardt Tehuis

ATKV Centurionsangers, -dansers en -musikante het die inwoners van Louis Trichardt Tehuis onlangs met ’n plaasete onthaal en met sang, musiek en danspassies uit vervloё dae getrakteer.
Gert van Tonder het liedjies soos “Sproetjies” en “Die padda wou gaan opsit” het hul gedagtes ook ver teruggevoer.

The University of the Witwatersrand has congratulated the Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor and all those involved in assisting South Africa to win the bid to host the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescope.

Fanie Smit deur ATKV vereer vir jarelange bevordering van die Uitvoerende Kunste

Fanie Smit bied die afgelope 40 jaar elke Sondag die program “Loof die Here” na die agtuurnuus op RSG aan.
Die ATKV het hom onglangs tydens ‘n feeskonsert by Unisa, voor ‘n waarderende gehoor vereer.
Fanie Smit is vereer vir sy jarelange verruiming van Afrikaanssprekendes se kennis en waardering van gewyde koorsang van internasionale gehalte d.m.v. die radioprogram “Loof die Here”.
Op hierdie wyse ondersteun hy die ATKV-visie wat ‘n suksesvolle Suid-Afrika uitbou d.m.v. onder andere die Uitvoerene Kunste.

The Home with a Big Heart

Thanks to all the donations received, Irene Homes has now also been able to help the poor in the Mooiplaas area.
Donations received that cannot be repaired or sold at the Irene Homes Shop, are donated to the people of Mooiplaas.
Mooiplaas has a very high unemployment rate and these donations are making a big difference in these people’s lives giving them a warmer winter and hope for the future.
Linda Ries, her daughter Kathleen collect these donations and transport it at their own cost to the Mooiplaas area for distribution.

Positiewe optog met ’n opvoedkundige boodskap

Die vakbond, Solidariteit, het aan ’n optog deelgeneem wat deel uitmaak van die Stad Tshwane se jaarlikse viering van die Internasionale Week vir Beroepsgesondheid en -veiligheid.
Die vakbond het ’n beroep op Suid-Afrikaanse werkgewers en werknemers gedoen om beroepsgesondheid en -veiligheid ’n prioriteit te maak.
Die Wêrelddag vir Veiligheid en Gesondheid in die Werkplek is op 28 April 2012 gevier en die Internasionale Week vir Beroepsgesondheid en -veiligheid in die eerste week van Mei gevier.
