Entrepreneurs Business Challenge for all high school learners

The Young Entrepreneurs Business Challenge (Y@CBIZ) is an initiative of the Centurion Business Forum and is this year supported by the AHI, Centurion Academy and the ATKV.
The competition is open to all high school learners from all public and private schools in South Africa and is based on a Business Plan submission.
Students can enter as an Individual or in a Group of 3 learners.
The aim of the Y@CBIZ competition is to promote entrepreneurship (or create your own job) as a career option.

The City of Tshwane has an anti-fraud and corruption hotline number 080-874 9263 (080-TSHWANE) that will deal with fraud, corruption and theft allegations.
The objective of the hotline is to create an avenue for whistle-blowers to report their suspicions of fraud, theft and corruption anonymously.
In accordance with the Protected Disclosures Act and the City of Tshwane Whistle-blowing Policy, whistle-blowers will be protected and will not be subjected to victimisation as a result of blowing the whistle in good faith.

Granny now the oldest member of the DA

Granny Johanna Mahundla a resident of Refilwe, Cullinan was born on 2 April 1904.
She signed up membership with the DA at the age of 109 years and might be the oldest DA member in South Africa.
A goodwill visit to her took place on Saturday, 27 July 2013 by DA Councillor Johan Welmans who represented the party in Refilwe ward 99.
He was accompanied by the DA Member of the Gauteng Legislature in the Constituency, Ms Rika Kruger.

Slimfoontegnologie is nou in die Voortrekkermonument beskikbaar om dit makliker te maak vir besoekers wat nie die dienste van ‘n gids het nie.
Die QR-kodes is op skyfies op verskeie plekke binne en buite die Monument aangebring en besoekers met slimfone kan daarop klik om die “applikasie” en volledige inligting oor die betrokke uitstalling te kan lees.
Gratis WiFi is nou ook in die Monument beskikbaar.

SME’s and Legal Matters

The Centurion Business Forum network function held at the Centurion Theatre was well attended.
The guest speaker was Eugene Botha, senior associate at Sirdar and the very informative topic of his speech was “Demystify Legal Matters for SME’s”.
The co-ordinator for the 2013 Youth Entrepreneurs Competition (Y@CBIZ), Prof Gary Ferreira announced the launch of the competition and that it has been extended to high school children from all schools in all the provinces of South Africa.

Celebrating Mandela Day in Olievenhoutbosch

The Community Hall at Olievenhoutbosch is on Mondays a hive of activity when the aged are taught to do stitch work and other crafts.
The Centurion acquired permission from dr Elma Krüger, director of the Centurion Council for the Aged, to celebrate Mandela Day with soup and other goodies at the Hall.
On Monday 22 July 2013 the group was very excited as the soup that was collected at the soup-and-sherry day held the previous week at Hirsch’s Centurion, was handed to them.

Children in hospital received goody bags

The Forever Hotel Centurion and Forever Resorts, Lodges, Hotels & Retreats Home Office took time out of their day dedicating 67 minutes to Mandela Day at Steve Biko’s children’s clinics and wards.
They packed and distributed goody bags with colouring pencils, colouring books, puzzles and water paint to the children.

Die Herberg Creche celebrated Mandela Day

The Herberg Creche in Thaba Tshwane celebrated Mandela day with songs by the children and dancing by the teachers.
A donation was also made by the crèche to the SA Defence Force Chaplain to purchase bibles for underprivileged communities and an olive tree was donated and planted by the Directorate Occupational Health and Safety, Department of Defence.

FREEDOM PARK offered a platform for prayers for Madiba

Freedom Park offered a “appropriate platform” during Mandela month where the public could show their support for Mr Mandela and his family during the time of his illness.
