Lewis Meiring het namens die ATKV Centurion Jeugleiersforum die volgende Nuwejaarsboodskap van Hoop aan Matriekskoolverlaters van Suid-Afrika gelewer.

Final registration weekend

All voting stations will be open over the weekend of 8 & 9 February 2014 between 08h00 till 17h00 for the final registration to vote in the 2014 elections.
Should you have moved residence during the past two years, you could visit the IEC website or SMS your ID number to 32810 to check at which voting station you are registered and if necessary to re-register at your nearest correct voting station. (SMS cost R1.00)
Children that will be celebrating their 18th birthday before May 2014 can also register to vote.

The Electoral Commission (IEC) and the Department of International Relations & Cooperation (DIRCO) announced their collaboration to register South Africans living abroad.
In terms of the amended Electoral Regulations, South Africans living outside of the country who wish to vote in this year’s national election are required to register in person either in South Africa or at one of South Africa’s 124 Embassies, High Commissions or Consulates-General located in 108 countries.

ATKV Versoeningswa: “Gee hierdie land nuwe hoop, nuwe krag…”

Die ATKV Voortrekkerwa het op Versoeningsdag ‘n Versoeningsrol simboliseer.
Nadat lede van Centurion se Jeugleiersforum die wa ten aanskoue van baie besoekers, voor die Voortrekkermonument aanmekaargesit het, het hulle vir dr. Guma, Raadslid van Vryheidspark en me. Sonja Lombaard, Besturende Direkteur van die Voortrekkermonument op die wa laat ry.
“Dit was ook ‘n versoeningsgebaar teenoor al die inwoners van Suid-Afrika” was Sakkie Kotze, die projekleier se opmerking n.a.v. hul banier op die watent met die woorde: “Vorentoe saam met alle Suid-Afrikaners!”

Freedom Park hosted Interfaith Prayers for Reconciliation Day

In line with the government’s theme of ‘Nation Building, Social Cohesion and Reconciliation’, Freedom Park hosted an interfaith prayer session on Reconciliation Day at ISIVIVANE, one of the Park’s elements.
Religious leaders from the various faiths conducted prayers following their tradition and united with the general public to pray and intercede for peace and reconciliation in our country.
‘Freedom Park, which is an inclusive space for spirituality, has decided to support a prayer service to pray for the nation’ said Fana Jiyane, Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Park.

Mandela statue embracing the nation

President Jacob Zuma on 16 December 2013 unveiled a nine metre bronze statue of Nelson Mandela at the Union Buildings.
Among the thousands of attendees were dignitaries and the Mandela family.
The day also marked the centenary of the Union Buildings which is one of the architectural masterpieces of South Africa and which was declared a national heritage site by President Zuma.
The statue is an acknowledgement of Madiba’s contribution as the first president of a democratic South Africa and is a symbol of national reconciliation and unity.

Irene Homes Charity Shop benefits on closure of project

After 10 years of being in Centurion’s CBD, the two Joint Venture groups of Berg River Consultants (BRC) and De Hoop Dam Consultants (DHDC) have finally closed their offices as their project work has come to a close.
The joint venture partners decided to donate their surplus furniture and office equipment to Irene Homes Charity Shop.

Irene Homes Charity Shop donates wheelchair

Irene Homes collects various donations such as clothing, books, furniture, ornaments en household items from the community and then sell these items in their Charity Shop.
All the income from these sales is used to supplement the funding for the home.
Some of the donated items are also donated to other charitable organisations.
A wheelchair used by Charmaine Mashau, a young girl from Mamelodi, was stolen and her mother, Gladys, had to carry her daughter around.
This caused Gladys, who is employed at The Print Factory, Centurion, not to be able to perform her …
