More fest with lots of Gemütlichkeit!

The Deutsche Schule Pretoria biggest annual fundraising event, the Octoberfest, started by the parents in 1977 to introduce some German culture to South Africans will be held for the 38th year during 11 – 13 September 2014.
The school aim to offer young and old a good time with a variety of entertainment, good food and music.
Apart from the hobby fair, arts & craft market there will be an Alley of Games for the kids including pony rides, catch-a-fish and a lantern procession.

HIRSCH’S Domestic Worker Competition

Domestic workers are the unsung heroines in most homes around South Africa.
They are the housekeepers, take care of basic maintenance in the home, cook, are child minders, some do the gardening – and generally play an integral part in making sure that everything runs smoothly in the home.
Hirsch’s, who hold regular training sessions on appliance maintenance in each of their branches for Domestic Workers, would like to acknowledge these stalwarts in the home by holding a “Domestic Worker of the Month” competition in every branch area.

Queen of the Ramp 2014

An incident in August 2012 where fear and pain was created by the brutal attack during a burglary left Elzien-Lolette (EL) van der Merwe from Centurion with a broken foot and a bruised face.
She thought that she will never be able to do any confident coaching again.
However, she was able to walk again and she regained her ability to help anyone to have the confidence of the world on stage and especially in everyday life.

Melissa Kelly is a registered dietician with eighteen years of clinical experience and she is a lecturer at the University of Pretoria in the subject of Nutrition.

Businesses should not lose their flavour

Erik Vermeulen, motivational speaker from Leader Motivation Systems, was the guest speaker at the August monthly business network function at Hirsch’s Centurion.
He explained that even the best companies can lose their flavour by not rendering an excellent service to their customers and business owners must guard against losing customers to rival companies.
Erik then also assisted by handing out lucky draw prizes sponsored by various businesses where after every guest introduced their businesses. Chirologist, Kevin Leak, offered a free handprint reading to the guests.

Ladies celebrating Women’s Day at Hirsch’s Centurion

The monthly ladies’ morning for August was a special event with Hirsch’s teaming up the SA Council for Business Women and Pink Drive to celebrate women’s month.
The main guest speaker was Carina Nel, owner of the Fashion and Style Club and special guest speakers John Owen, Mr SA 2013, as well as two Mrs SA 2014 finalists, Mari Nieuwoudt and Drieka van Staden.
