Deutsche Schule Pretoria Robotics Team wins awards

The First Robotics Open African Championships were recently hosted alongside Africa Automation Fair at The Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg.
More than 70 local and international teams participating at this first ever for Africa showcase with South Africa presented by twelve teams.
There were about 2, 000m2 displays of talent and passion for robotics by our young future engineers and innovators.
The Deutsche Schule Pretoria (DSP) has entered two teams, the “Cheese Team” and the “Creepy Crawly Team”.

Forte High School based in Dobsonville, Soweto is a no-fee paying school serving the township community including the Reconstruction Development Settlement, which mostly consists of child-headed families.
Since its establishment in 2008, the South African registered non-profit organization, One School at a Time (OSAAT), has been committed to creating a world-class education system in South Africa, by supporting and motivating students in township schools, starting with current partner schools Forte High in Soweto and Itirele-Zenzele High in Diepsloot.

Volgens ’n studie deur Markdata wat in opdrag van Solidariteit Helpende Hand gedoen is, eet bykans een uit elke tien kleuters daagliks net die kos wat by kleuterskole aan hulle voorsien word.
Die studie het bevind dat onder die nagenoeg 550 kleuters tussen die ouderdom van twee en ses jaar by 16 behoeftige kleuterskole regoor Suid-Afrika die maaltyd wat by ’n kleuterskool bedien word vir 8,2% van kinders die enigste maaltyd van die dag is.
’n Verdere 22,2% van kleuters kry net nog een maaltyd tuis.

Top Atlete blink uit

Drie atlete van die Hoërskool Eldoraigne het op 23- 26 April 2015 aan die Tweede Afrika Jeug Atletiekkampioenskappe in Mauritius deelgeneem.
Daar was 30 lande van Afrika wat aan die byeenkoms deelgeneem het en die skool se drie atlete Nicola de Bruyn, Mornè van As en Theuns Ehlers atlete het top presteer .
Nicola de Bruyn het die 100m en 200m gewen en twee nuwe Afrika rekords opgestel.
Sy het ook ‘n silwer medalje in die medley verwerf.

Chinese Ballet group visited the Voortrekker Monument

The Liaoning Ballet group of China recently visited the Voortrekker Monument during their tour of South Africa.
Twenty one dancers from the ballet group joined forces with Joburg Ballet in the production of Swan Lake and was seen as symbolic of the 21 years of democracy being celebrated this year in South Africa.
The Liaoning Ballet of China was founded in 1980 and is one of China’s major ballet companies, blending a strong classical technique and repertoire with ballets based on Chinese themes.

New Management for DA Gauteng North

The Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng North had its Regional Congress recently and a new Regional Management Committee (RMC) was elected.
Fred Nel (Member of the Provincial Legislature), is the new Regional Chairperson.
The two new Vice-Regional Chairpersons are Adriana Randall (Member of the Provincial Legislature) and Zweli Khumalo (Councillor).
The chairpersons elected for the portfolios are:

New Medical Centre opens in Centurion

The official opening of the new Centurion N.H.C. Health Centre took place on 16 April 2015 with the MD of N.H.C. Ltd, Mr Herman J. Kohloffel revealing the plaque.
The centre is adjacent to the Grey Owl Village Centre on the corner of Brakfontein and Erasmus Road, Centurion and convenient for travellers between Centurion and Johannesburg.
Services offered at the centre comprises of general practitioners, dentistry, physiotherapy, dietician, audiology, neurology, speech therapy and a baby clinic.

SACBW Centurion se Broodjieprojek

Fondse word deur dames by die SACBW Centurion se maandelikse netwerkfunksies ingesamel vir die Broodjieprojek om die toenemende voedsel tekort van kinders by skole te befonds.
Elke maand ontvang ‘n skool in Centurion die fondse wat hulle kan aanwend om die skool se eie projek by te staan en die kinders van toebroodjies te kan voorsien.
In April 2015 is die fondse wat die maand ingesamel is aan die Laerskool Bakenkop oorhandig. Die skool voorsien daagliks aan behoeftige kinders ‘n ontbyt wat deur vrywilligers voorberei word.
