SACBW Centurion Branch cares

Apart from creating a platform for business women to promote their businesses and unlocking their potential, SACBW Centurion Branch also cares for the underprivileged in the community.
They support the local “Grannies who care” project and once a month they visit Kalafong Hospital to hand out ‘baby-packs’ to new moms as well as gift-packs in the children’s ward.
With up to 120 happy smiles on a visit, they are so honoured to support this humble but rewarding outreach.

Elke maand word een skool in die Centurion omgewing geïdentifiseer en word die fondse aan die skool geskenk ter aanvulling van die skool se voedingskema vir behoeftige kinders.

More fest for the whole family

The annual and biggest fundraising event, Oktoberfest started in 1977 when the parents wanted to raise funds and introduce some German tradition to South Africa.
A variety of live entertainment including the “Ottrauer Musikanten” oompah band flown in from Germany will be performing in the tents and beer garden.
For the kids there will be an Alley of games and the Merry-go-rounds, Mechanical Bull, Arts- and Craft Market and Hobby Centre will have something for everyone.
German food including Brezel, Lebkuchen, Eisbein, Kassler, Schnitzel, Cakes and more will ensure nobody goes hungry.

New species unveiled in SA

In a ground-breaking discovery, a new species of human ancestor has been unearthed at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage site.
Details of the significant fossil discovery called Homo naledi have been kept secret for years and were unveiled at Maropeng, in the Cradle of Humankind.
The discovery of a new species of human relative was announced by the University of the Witwatersrand, the National Geographic Society, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the National Research Foundation of South Africa (NRF).

Earth Angel flying in Centurion

Maryke Roets, owner of Earth Angel Clothing and one of the ten finalists in the Margaret Hirsch Women Achiever of the Year 2014 competition, recently took a giant leap and opened her first shop at the Clubview Corner Shopping Centre in Centurion.
Customers on this day were spoiled with champagne snacks. Buyers popped balloons for surprised discounts and gifts.
The ranges of clothing, according to Maryke, are aimed at the mature ladies but even the younger generation will find something unique in the mix and match items.

Years ago the Olivenhoutbosch area was characterised by shacks with backyard rooms and people were unemployed, but change has come to the area through a partnership between government and the community.
The community recently witnessed the unveiling of an Integrated Human Settlements Development Project in Olievenhoutbosch Ext 36 by Deputy Minister for Human Settlements, Zou Kota-Fredericks.

Neighbourhood Marketing Guru shares secrets in new book

South African restaurateur and marketing guru Basil O’Hagan has published a book of practical neighbourhood marketing tips geared to helping stores and small businesses attract customers, drive sales and boost profits.
The book, 415 Action-Packed Neighbourhood Marketing Tips, is co-written by Hagen Engler and is the first book focused on neighbourhood marketing aimed squarely at South African businesses.

Helping entrepreneurs with their figures

At Hirsch’s Centurion monthly Business Networking Event the guest speaker was Karen de Villiers who is a qualified accountant with more than 10 years in the field.
Karen discussed the latest taxation legislation and touched on the nine deadlines all business owners should know and remember.
Lucky draws for prizes were held and an opportunity was given for each visitor to introduce themselves and their business.
Afterwards ample networking was given to swop business cards and make new contacts over some refreshments.
