Annual Air Show again a great success

The SA Air Force Museum held their annual fundraising air show ‘Wings over Zwartkop’ on 7 May 2016 at Zwartkop Air Force Base. Thousands of visitors enjoyed the static and aerial displays of the warbirds and other aircraft. Some of the highlights were the flypast of the Mango Airlines accompanied by the Silver Falcons and the mini-war. Thrilling was thundering sounds of the Vampire, Cheetah and Gripen. New Cancer Support Group in Centurion

Cancer Buddies is the support services project of the organisation People Living with Cancer.
Survivor driven, the project offers free support services to all newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families including a free 24 hour helpline, support groups and online web support.
The Cancer Buddies are all cancer survivors who are trained to assist patients that are facing diagnosis, treatment, emotional issues and understand a life of living with and going on beyond the treatment of cancer.

Ladies Morning at Hirsch’s Centurion

Ladies attending the monthly Ladies Morning networking event at Hirsch’s Centurion in April 2016 listened intently to the speaker Daphne Fitzgerald from Catch the Beat.
The topic of discussion was how to keep consumers continuously aware of your products through a website and using social media.
The monthly finalist for the Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever was announced as Soekie Swart from Buzuci.

Marketing Guru Offers Tips

Basil O’Hagan was the guest speaker at the April 2016 monthly business networking event held at Hirsch’s Centurion.
Basil founded the O’Hagan’s Pub and Grill restaurant and later founded The Brazen Head Restaurant group through which periods he gained extensive marketing knowledge.
Proudly South African, Basil now shares his knowledge with businesses countrywide and also in his book, 415 Action-Packed Neighbourhood Marketing Tips which was also available at the event.
Lucky draw prizes were handed to delighted guests followed by networking with snacks and coffee.

Hirsch’s Centurion Celebrated World Book Day

World Book Day was celebrated on 23 April 2016 and Hirsch’s Centurion decided to make a difference to the lives of people in areas where books are hard to come by, with a drive to collect new and second hand books for both children and adults.
The charity that was chosen for the donation is the Viva Village, where schooling and a pre-school is provided for underprivileged children in the community.
The response to the project was overwhelming and Sutherland High School donated nine boxes of children’s books.

Eerste Eldo-drama Eisteddfod

Hoërskool Eldoraigne het sy eerste Eisteddfod dramafees gehou en dit was ‘n opwindende week met 150 leerlinge wat ingeskryf het.
Die kategorieë waarin individue en groepe deelgeneem is was poësie, gedramatiseerde poësie monoloog, prosa, mimiek, improvisasie en kort toneel.
Die aantal inskrywings het alle verwagtinge oortref en na baie oudisies en die finale aand is die wenners in die onderskeie kategorieë aangekondig.
Die Algehele Junior Wenner is Luan Swart, Algehele Senior Wenner is Liza du Plessis.
Ianthe Sipsma is as die veelsydigste leerder aangewys.
