On Saturday 17 April 2010 the Tshwane Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) hosted a 1,4km and 2,4km ‘Wag-a-Walk’ event at Smuts House, Irene to create awareness and raise much needed funds for animals in their care.

Various celebrities acted as adjudicators for the pet competitions after the walk.

Prizes were awarded for the friendliest dog, pet-and-owner look-a-like, ex-adopted SPCA dog and well-groomed dog.

Elsa Daniels, spokesperson for the Tshwane SPCA, thanked all that assisted and participated.      She said that they are planning to make next year’s routes more suitable for disabled people in wheelchairs as well as for the blind.

People and their pets from as far as Mpumalanga and all over Gauteng participated.

More information and photographs of the event, visit the Tshwane SPCA website www.spcapta.co.za.
