Denel Dynamics’ show of soccer spirit recently saw the Denel entity kit out a central passage in the company’s offices with fresh astro-turf and goal posts, kicking off its “World Cup soccer shoot-out” – complete with an electrified pitch-side gathering of staff and colleagues.

Forty teams, made up of a mix of ladies and gents all wearing their soccer kit of choice, lined the corridors of Denel Dynamics on Friday, 30 April 2010 to take part in the first round of the company’s World Cup Soccer Shoot-Out.

“As a proud South African company with a truly global operating presence, the collective team at Denel Dynamics wanted to show its support for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and celebrate the soccer stars among us!” says Jan Wessels, CEO of Denel Dynamics.

Dynamics’ World Cup Soccer Shoot-Out is part of an ongoing project to create a family environment for all its employees.

“We are a company that depends completely on the skills and capabilities of the extraordinary individuals who make up our team,” explains Christo de Kock, executive manager of engineering: Denel Dynamics.

De Kock adds that by encouraging staff to form shoot-out teams with other departments (and include a lady in each team!), the company has managed to create an integrated event that builds on the diversity of the collective.

Denel Dynamics’ Soccer Shoot-Out takes place every Friday in the run-up to the World Cup, with the final being held during lunch on 11 June 2010, just in time for the team to watch Bafana Bafana take on Mexico at Soccer City.

“We wish both Bafana Bafana and our own in-house stars every possible success!” Wessels said.
