World Human Rights Moot Court Competition 2011 final at UP

The Third World Human Rights Moot Court Competition was hosted on 8-9 December 2011 by the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Law, with the support of the Regional Office for Southern Africa of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (ROSA).  
All law faculties have been invited to submit heads of argument on the basis of a hypothetical case and three teams from each of the five UN regions were invited to participate in the semi-finals and final round.
The presiding judges in the final oral round in Pretoria were: Mr Ibrahim Wani (Geneva, Switzerland); Professor Martin Scheinin (Florence, Italy); Judge Zak Yacoob, (Johannesburg); Professor Ann Skelton, (University of Pretoria); Advocate Pansy Tlakula, (South Africa) and Professor Christof Heyns, (University of Pretoria)
The winner of the Competition was University of the West Indies Norman Manley Law School, Jamaica and the runner up was Yale Law School, United States of America. For more details on the competition please see www.up.ac.za/law.
