Charities supporting women and children received donations

7 March 2012 No Comment

The Business for Empowerment Trust or (BET) together with the current Miss South Africa, Melinda Bam, recently handed over R1 million to a number of charities focussing on supporting women and children.

The vision of the BET is to empower disadvantaged South African citizens with the skills and support to enable them to access and seize opportunities to flourish in education, health and the economy.

Well-known celebrities Lindie Strydom (actress and Solidarity Helping Hand’s public relations officer), Melinda Bam (Miss SA 2011/2012) and Lizelle Marais (Miss Style 2009) were but some of the familiar faces spotted at this event!

Two other related initiatives that were also introduced on the evening are the “Save our Home” campaign in aid of the Thuthuzela Aid Community Centre and  the Empowerment Academy’s “Youth Leadership Development Initiative” that involves the likes of Bobby Godsell of Business Leadership SA and Futhi Mtoba, president of BUSA.
