Inauguration Ceremony at the Deutsche Schule Pretoria

14 November 2013 No Comment

The inauguration of a new building of the primary school took place at the Deutsche Schule Pretoria (DSP) recently.
Dr Horst Freitag, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, honoured the school by officially opening the new building, consisting of six new classrooms.
The DSP, with the aid of the German Foreign Office, pride itself on being at the forefront of investing more than EUR400,000 in energy efficient and regenerative measures that have also been done at the school.
The pilot projects included photovoltaic (PV) panels installed; heating and cooling by means of heat pumps; new UPVC window fronts on all classrooms windows and load control measures implemented to avoid electrical load peaks and to switch on certain loads when excess power is generated by the PV panels.
There were exhibitions and musical interludes by the school orchestra and two songs on sustaining the environment performed by Grades 3 and 4 learners.
Red, yellow and black balloons were let into the air by students as a token of joy and appreciation for their new environment and as a symbol of the school’s use of the latest technological advances for the benefit of everyone at the school.
