Undercover Farming Expo & Conference a must for intensive farmers

13 February 2014 No Comment

The third Undercover Farming Expo & Conference will be held at the Saint George Hotel Events Centre near Pretoria from 4 to 6 March 2014.
Johan Swiegers, organiser of the expo, says the past two events proved that food producers are showing keen interest in intensive agriculture.
Greenhouse, tunnel, shade-net and hydroponic farming – collectively known as undercover farming – is gaining in popularity amongst producers.
These methods of farming enjoy the benefit of being completely under a cover that protects the likes of crops from natural elements.
Exhibitor feedback showed that good business transactions were concluded and high quality information was shared in the conference, indicating that the commodity industry under protection in Africa is experiencing a larger influx.
The Undercover Farming Expo & Conference has therefore earned its rightful entry in the diary of agriculture and is an important event in the growth of the industry.
The event is an excellent information source for existing and potential producers and buyers of vegetables, flowers, fruit and seedlings being hydroponically produced under protective cover, as well as for suppliers to the industry.
The Netherlands is the second largest exporter of agro-food products in the world.
Located at the entry point of the European consumer markets, it has developed and maintained its key position as international importer and exporter of flowers, vegetables and fruits.
The theme of the Conference is What Drives Modernisation in the Industry.
