Hirsch’s Silverlakes opened their doors

Hirsch’s are the biggest independently owned appliance retailer in Southern Africa.
This family run business have watched their company grow from a R900 business in a tiny showroom in Umhlanga Rocks, Durban, to the current mega appliance store that turned over R1 billion.
Branches are spread throughout Gauteng, Cape Town and KZN with eleven branches, four concept stores and a separate air-conditioning repair business.
The new Hirsch’s Silverlakes store boasting a massive 3,000 square meter with a 1,500 square meter warehouse has recently opened in Pretoria East.

Hirsch’s Centurion’s Domestic Training Course

As part of their social responsibility programme, Hirsch’s Centurion recently held a free training course for Domestic Workers in the community.
The morning started with an introduction to the different cleaning products available and the benefits of using the correct cleaning materials for specific surfaces.
The ladies were then taken through the store where the cleaning of the different appliances, bedding, TV’s and the different fabrics on furniture were explained.

Hirsch’s Centurion supports Cornwall Hill College Carnival

The Cornwall Hill College Carnival, held recently, consisted of carnival rides, talent shows and the College’s very own Masterchef competition.
Hirsch’s Centurion joined the exhibition and assisted in the prize-giving with the sponsorship of cookbooks as well as a stove.
Judging the competition were Deena Naidoo, the winner of 2012 MasterChef South Africa and Chefs Jovan and Daniel from a local cooking school.
They all expressed their surprise at the level of talent and presentation from the contestants.

Hirsch’s Centurion contributes to World Food Day

World Food Day provides an occasion to highlight the plight of 842 million undernourished people around the world.
Hirsch’s Centurion made their contribution to Hoërskool Uitsig with lunch packs for underprivileged children at the school.

Peri peri Prawns

Ingredients:
2kg prawns (deveined – with shell) 3 tablespoons braai sauce
1kg tomatoes 2 teaspoons red chilli powder
12 pods of garlic 2 teaspoons crushed chilli powder
1 cup tomato sauce 2 teaspoons peri peri powder
1 tin (410g) tomato puree 2 teaspoons Worcester sauce
½ teaspoon crushed black pepper ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
3 tablespoons chilli sauce ½ cup lemon juice
4 teaspoons HP sauce 125g butter
Method
1. Liquidize tomatoes and garlic together until well blended and smooth, place this mixture in a pot and add tomato puree, allow to boil for 10 minutes.
